Masha Diatchenko

was born in 1994 in Rome, Italy. She is a seventh-generation musician in her family and began studying violin and piano at the age of four under the musical instruction of her parents. Her first great success came at the age of five, premiering as a pianist in a recital of Maestro Ennio Morricone at the Aula Magna of “La Sapienza” University of Rome.

This recital gave birth to Masha’s musical career, a career that progressively shifted focus from piano to violin, the instrument for which she showed a particular predisposition and innate talent. By the age of six, she was already showcased as a soloist with the “Ensemble I Virtuosi” under the musical direction of V. Mariozzi, in addition to performances with the Orchestra Sinfonica Statale di Leopoli, the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana, “I Virtuosi di Leopoli”, “Art Music” under the direction of Maestro S. Diatchenko and of Maestro L. Fico, and “I Mozartini” under the direction of Maestro G. Zampieri. With this last group she was invited to participate in the prestigious festival for young violinists, “Uto Ughi per Roma” under the direction of Maestro Uto Ughi. As part of this event, she performed the Concerto in A minor of J.S. Bach in the presence of this maestro, obtaining success and praises from both his part and from that of the public.

In addition to appearing as a soloist with these groups at social and cultural events, Masha has performed in the presence of Pope John Paul II, as well as many other eminent figures of the cultural and political worlds. Her talents have been recognized and awarded in numerous national and international competitions, taking first prize in many such contests; among them, the National Union of String Players in the city of Vittorio Veneto, where she received first prize and honorable mention.

In November 2004, Masha was proclaimed the youngest professor of the University of Peace of Assisi.

She received distinguished, artistic recognition of her talents by the Knights of Malta, winning the “Premio di San Ginesio” in 2004, and the “Premio Uniglobus” and “Cisterna d’Argento” in 2005.

Masha currently studies at the “Accademia Art Music under Maestro S. Diatchenko, and she is regularly accompanied by Maestro Francesco Buccarella and Maestro M. Spada.

She has a large performance repertoire ranging from the most-important concerti of Bruch, Wieniawski (No. 2), Paganini (No. 1, 2 & 3), J.S. Bach, Mozart, Sibelius, Brahms, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev to contemporary music. In fact, Maestro Franco Mannino entrusted Masha with the performance of his Concerto No. 2 for Violin and Orchestra, which was dedicated to Maestro Uto Ughi.

Also a successful recording artist, Masha currently has three CDs featuring concerti of Paganini (No. 1 & 2), Sibelius, Brahms, and the Introduction and Rondo-Capriccioso of Saint-Saens. Her fourth CD is now being released, and it includes Paganini’s Concerto No. 3, Tchaikovsky’s violin concerto, and Waxman’s “Carmen-Fantasie”.

Her latest achievement was at a tournament in Malta where she had two concerts, one with a chamber orchestra and one with the National Orchestra of Sofia, Bulgaria under the direction of Maestro Alan Chircop.

Masha frequents various, high-end masterclasses (in Vienna with Zahar Bon and in Salzburg with Lewis Kaplan). The intensity of concert activity which Masha carries out in the major performance venues of Italy has even caught the attention of television journalists. In fact, Masha has been interviewed by Ukrainian television and most recently by RAI3 of Italy and EuroNews.

On July 3rd 2007 Masha graduated with Honours in violin at the Conservatorio Statale " N. Paganini " in Genova, Italy.

The two violins on which Masha performs are of Pietro Guarneri Veneziano and Gilberto Losi 2003, the latter being created by the Maestro violinmaker specifically for her.

Her attractive appearance has also brought with it experiences that go beyond the world of music. She has participated in various fashion shows and has collaborated with famous film directors such as Richy Tognazzi.
